Fake Blood Essential Mix and Trouble and Bass

    14.03.09

    tandb

Lets start with last night at Trouble and Bass. BEST PARTY OF 09′ furshurrrr bro. Jack Beats melted faces offfffff. AC played heatttters. Including some new UDACHI that had me freaking out.

I started off the night getting lost on the subway trying to make it to the Mishka opening party . Once Jen and I realized we were nowhere near the store we met up with Ysa, Angie, and Cosondra and went to San Locos tacos in BK. Tacos were on point, Flan was a little sketch but it served a purpose and killed off an hour or so. Made it to Studio B at about 11:30 and it was just starting to get going. We sat around in the corner and listened to the T&B crew play some solid tunesss.

I had no idea Studio B had the ill retarted sound system. Dammmmmn.

Bobmo got on and played some srs heat. A lot of fun housey stuff which was a really great precursor to AC Slater’s set. AC went on just played banger after banger so good. Highlight was this DnB mix of “show me love” into his remix. Place went offffff.

Jack Beats stepped up and slayed. I forgot how amazing that Fake Blood rmx of Mad Again is. Sounded hugggge last night. Also when Jack Beats dropped their single “What” a serious mosh pit erupted Joee was tacklin me and i was slammin into udachi. I lost my glasses in the fray and thought all was lost but Luca saved em with his vampire night vision. Just when shit couldnt get crazier he mixed out of “what” into the Where’s My Money edit. ZOMGGG circle pit bro mosh joee irwin body surfing madness erupted. Sooooo goood.

By the end of the night Nicoleee and Rod Forx had showed up which pretty much completed the evening.

Today I woke and got right to searchin for the Fake Blood Essential Mix. Touche’ is such a great producer and DJ I figured it’d be on point.

    Dinner and Lime Dropping

    10.01.09

    luca

Last night around 9 I made my way into echo park and had dinner with The Gray Kid, Dan Weisman and some cronies. Weisman manages Wale and played me some of Wale’s new heaters and OMG dude is going so hard. Tracks with TV ON THE RADIO, GLITCH MOB, LADY GAGA yes it’s that eclectic and all heatttt. I’m really excited for Wale. He’s gonna have a great 09′.

After all of that commotion and an amazing meal I headed to avalon to see my homie and “heavy bass champion’” Drop The Lime Aka Curses! aka Luca. I’m always so hyped to see this dude, Luca is always full of great energy and somehow takes anyone he’s interacting with to that happy place he’s in. Seriously a choice human being vampire.

I slid up on to the stage when devlin and darko were playin and saw a bunch of friendly faces including No Culture’s Johnny Love and his lovely lady Alexandra, Franki, Dirty Dave, Dan Oh, actually theres no way I could name everyone so lets move on haha.

After Luca tackled me and said what up he went on and proceeded to destroy Avalon. I mean i’ve never seen LA kids dance to dubstep, i’ve seen some head nodding. I’ve seen some arm waving. But never some serious getting down. Luca had people getting retarted on the dancefloor it was wonderful.

My personal highlight was when luca played AC Slaters “The Woah” such an epic tune. Another supreme highlight was watching everyone freak out when luca grabbed the mic and sang live. He looks like a vampire but sings like a 40 yr old church going black woman (audio proof below).

Either way if you aren’t familiar with his stuff go follow these links below. This year is gonna be about positive affirmations and watching my peers and friends take over the world. Drop The Lime was already XL8R’s artist of the year in 08′ lets see what he can whip up in 09.

TROUBLE AND BASS (Please check out everybody in the crew they’re in the top friends and everyones really talented – Passions, Star Eyes, Math Head, AC Slater, Acid Jacks, everybodyyyyy)

    DROP THE LIME

    Listen to this vampire sing.

    Paper Magazine Nightlife Awards

    17.11.08

Man that was awesome, I knew it was gonna be cool – but I had no idea it would be all of my best friends getting wasted and tearing shit up together. Somehow paper mag sat my table next to the pegleg fam (harry & scott), Angels & Kings table (crush management, travie, etc), trouble and bass’ table, and the retro kidz who were 2 feet from the stage. I dragged AC Slater, Jen, Ricky from moodwing, Sabrina and Sandra to the awards also, so by the end of the night Luca (Curses/DTL), Patrick (The Captain), Ben (Passions), Vivian (Star Eyes) Travie and us were throwing ice on stage dancing to the hip hop bombs Mark Ronson was playing and being collectively blown away by how amazing Solange Knowles’ voice was. She can sing her ass off. Srsly.

Anyways I won the award for Best DJ and it made the night even more amazing, it was incredible to even be included in the same breath as James Murphy, A-Trak, Juske and everyone else while sharing the bill with friends I’ve known for years like Franki Chan, Harley and Cassie.

Thanks go out to Paper Magazine for throwing an amazing event and showcasing all the people who make going out in NY and all over the USA so much fun.
