Hello friends, it’s been a while! I’m safely back in Canada, it’s cold (6C), raining (every day) and I’m in desperate need of a vacation..

So I ran into my friend Curtis Santiago a few weeks back in Austin at SXSW, I was so stoked to see him (it had been eons) – we had a chance to catch up and hear about each other’s latest goings on. Curtis was headed to Vancouver for a show that following week (I see a bunch of my friends were there! Hi Darcy! Coral! Malcolm! Parker!) and had been working hard on a new mix tape… among other things..

ANYWAY, since I seemed to have dropped the ball on this whole ‘Canadian Content’ thing, I thought now would be a good time to post the video of his show and say –

Now, I’m not a huge Caesar fan – I don’t really enjoy Clamto OR Worcestershire Sauce, but I’d be pretty surprised if I met more than two friends that felt the same. Caesar’s are HUGE in Canada.

A Caesar is a vodka cocktail drink that is served on the rocks with the following ingredients:

6 oz. Clamato Juice
2 Dashes Hot Sauce
2 Dashes Worcestershire Sauce
Celery salt
Freshly Ground Pepper
Lime/Lemon wedge
1 Crisp Celery Stalk

The Caesar was invented by bartender Walter Chell at the Owl’s Nest Bar in the Calgary Inn in Calgary, Alberta in 1969, to accompany the opening of a new restaurant. In its original form, the drink contained tomato juice and mashed clams; Clamato had only just been released by the Mott’s company that very year, and was not yet widely known or available.

Starting in 2002, Mott’s began marketing pre-mixed Caesars in twelve-ounce bottles. (exciting!)

Variations can include substituted or added ingredients, like salt and pepper, cayenne pepper, horseradish, or lemon juice, seasoning salt or lemon pepper (rather than celery salt), a garnish of dill pickled cucumber, spicy pickled green bean or asparagus. Occasionally a prawn (especially in seafood restaurants) or crisp bacon is used as a garnish.

Next time you’re out on the town, ask the bartender to mix you up a Caesar and let me know what you think. You might be surprised at how tasty you find it…

Fan Death is also a really amazing Canadian band.

I was pretty stoked to get some pictures of the band last Saturday when they opened for Metronomy at Glory Days in Vancouver. The show was insanity and completely lived up to the hype (THE HYPE: “An all to the floor disco pop cut filled with electro coolness.” – badrobot.co.uk)

I’ve decided that I’m totally going to be Eatskeet’s Canadian Content affiliate for a while. Last week it was Fake-Shark, this week it’s Vancouver’s The Clips – a dancey and funky, poppy and melodic quintet with more intensity & style then you could shake a stick at.

The Clips new album, Matterhorn, was given a great review by Pitchfork back in October ’08 – but you should probably just watch their video for Space Kidz and see how rad The Clips are for yourself.

All around good guy and one of Canada’s finest Hatchmatik has a Top Club Trax of 2008 playlist over at FAIRTILIZER. Hatch is an excellent DJ and producer so he’s got some gems over there.

A few of my favorites are in the list as well so if you haven’t heard the Radioclit Township Funk Rmx you’re missing out go check it.

Anyways I just wanted to post this because Hatchmatik is the man and if you aren’t familiar, get familiar by adding him on myspace.

Srsly i’ve been playing pokemon diamond all day today. I got a nintendo DS after the show in pittsburgh and ordered a CYCLO DS from Jandaman.com now i’m pirating DS roms like a true nerd and winning at life in Mario Kart and Pokemon Diamond.

So today I went tobogganing with my girls the Lindsay’s, Louis (Fake Shark! Real Zombie) and Rony and his girlfriend Lauren. We went to Seymour mountain in West Vancouver, and it was awesome. I bought some boots and snow-pants for SUNDANCE ON SATURDAY. Also after Sundance I go to Miami with the Boys.

Also I can’t decide what kind of a club or party I want to start throwing in LA. Dance Party or Kickback mellow out party? I enjoy playing and mixing dance music as much as anybody, but letting talking heads songs play through on some legit vinyl while everybody kicks back and reflects on their day is some grown man good times shit.
