Metronomy is still stuck in my head.

So last tuesday I went and saw Metronomy live at Temporary Spaces. They were so incredible, I hate getting fanboy but really they are so ace. I went in expecting it to sound dodgy as it’s tough to convert a nightclub into a live setting. But somehow it managed to sound superb and I can’t get over how great “heartbreaker” went over that night. This is some brilliant pop music, the melodies and sounds are so fresh and different but at the same time the arrangement and cohesiveness of the songs make them instant ear candy. Okay thats the end of my fanboy rant, I just think more people should be listening to Metronomy.

Also this video is beautiufl, if you get a chance go see them. I think theyre still touring with the Mae Shi another great band.

and for the mp3 fiends i got you dawg because that video does the sonic quality of this song no real justice. it’s mixed/engineered so well <3 yall metronimiers.

Canadian Content – Fan Death

Fan death is a South Korean urban legend which states that an electric fan, if left running overnight in a closed room, can cause the death (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia) of those inside…
Fan Death is also a really amazing Canadian band.

I was pretty stoked to get some pictures of the band last Saturday when they opened for Metronomy at Glory Days in Vancouver. The show was insanity and completely lived up to the hype (THE HYPE: “An all to the floor disco pop cut filled with electro coolness.” – badrobot.co.uk)

Check out the video for Veronica’s Veil, which was released December 8 on Phantasy.

Canadian Content – The Clips

I’ve decided that I’m totally going to be Eatskeet’s Canadian Content affiliate for a while. Last week it was Fake-Shark, this week it’s Vancouver’s The Clips – a dancey and funky, poppy and melodic quintet with more intensity & style then you could shake a stick at.

The Clips new album, Matterhorn, was given a great review by Pitchfork back in October ’08 – but you should probably just watch their video for Space Kidz and see how rad The Clips are for yourself.

Everybody Else – Meat Market Video

The boys in Everybody Else made one of my favorite records last year and they were nice enough to let me make a little cameo in their video for “Meat Market.” It was a seriously fun day of dancing and singing and exposing the whole film crew to hilarious internet videos.

Check out Meat market and other great tunes on their myspace here.
