“Across the universe” which is a recent musical with only Beatles songs (great actors,beautiful visuals and great songs adaptations ).
It really depends on what you are looking for but these are just pieces of art I think.

This year I’ve especially loved “slumdog millionaire”, “500 hundred days of Summer”,Pixar’s “up”,Sam Raimi’s “Drag me to hell”.
And for a vintage taste: Empire records and Pump up the volume are some of my personal favourites!

Anything that Aronofsky does. Visually, its always next level, and he tends to get pretty amazing performances from his actors. Watch “The Fountain” if you haven’t done so.

Also, Sam Rockwell kills in “Moon,” though it may not be out on DVD.
