Garret from Trash Talk just sent me an email reminding me he was playin in LA soon. I knew about the show but I DID NOT know it was a free scion show. WTF?! Scion is killing it, I don’t care what anyone says. I did the a tour with Le Castlevania sponsored by Scion and it was great. They take care of the artists and provide opportunities for kids to see shows that might have never happened.

Regardless Trash Talk is one of my fav bands at the moment. If you’re into any kind of HxC/Grindy stuff you can’t deny how fucking fun Trash Talk is. Pig Destroyer are legends I think I did a Halloween mix a couple years ago that used “Pig Destroyer – Jennifer” as the intro. You gotta RSVP to go and the link is below, yesssss.

It is true, my all time fave show Gossip Girl is going to have a spin off. Apparently the original idea was to focus on lil J’s life, instead it was decided to tell about Lillys Van der Woodsen’s scandalous teen years based in LA. My friend Joe totally called it. At first I was super stoked but now Im not quite sure how I feel about it. I can’t wait to see the clothes!!! And the May 11th episode of GG is going to serve as a backdoor pilot for the new show, so lets see what happens. Thoughts anyone ?? How do you guys feel about this?

So I prepared this amazing dinner for myself. I was so stoked on it, then tuned into this:

So I just got back into town today and wtf- I saw all these bulletins and shit about Indie 103.1 going off the air. So I checked the website and this is what it said:

Indie 103.1 will cease broadcasting over this frequency effective immediately. Because of changes in the radio industry and the way radio audiences are measured, stations in this market are being forced to play too much Britney, Puffy and alternative music that is neither new nor cutting edge. We have decided not to play that game any longer. Rather than changing the sound, spirit, and soul of what has made Indie 103.1 great Indie 103.1 will bid farewell to the terrestrial airwaves and take an alternative course. 

This could only be done on the Internet, a place where rules do not apply and where new music thrives; be it grunge, punk, or alternative – simply put, only the best music.

This makes me pretty bummed. Indie was not perfect, but it was my favorite radio station in Los Angeles, and it’s sad to see the man take yet another thing from us.

Indie was really good to local musicians, and Mr. Shovel in particular, has been very generous to my band. We have played a ton of the Check One Two shows, and in turn have gotten a good amount of play on Indie. It was something reachable and tangible to local Los Angeles bands, and something enjoyable for everyone.

I’m just ranting, but I wonder what other people’s feelings are about this. Do you listen to internet radio? I mostly listened to the radio in my car, at home I have about a trillion songs I’ve downloaded that I haven’t listened to yet. Now that Indie is gone, will everyone have to turn to blogs to find out about new music? Will everyone stop listening to bands with instruments and only listen to blog house?

+ I was flipping though channels a minute ago and i didn’t realize that show Pimp My Ride is still airing. Thank goodness cause its AMAZING . . . this girl had a shitty truck and had a bunch of manure and gardening hoe’s in the back of her truck and the whole ‘pimp’ and ‘hoe’ thing was a joke the whole episode . . probably because xzhibit is definitely always high ..and when i typed the word ‘hoes’ I thought maybe a gardening hoe was spelled differently so I looked it up on google and ended up with this. . .

Good thing they can supply you with all types of hoes.

One of the sweetest people in the world and my sxsw roomie last year Maggie Horn has finally put our her mixtape. it’s been a process for her and it was well worth the wait because it’s finally done and it’s amazing. Scottie B the bmore legend is on the mix and rips it as well.

So, this past weekend I took a road trip up to San Francisco with two of my band mates.

It was a pretty interesting trip.
I lived with like 10 boys for a few days in a tiny apt and was lucky enough to see a few friends I haven’t seen in FOREVER. On day two we stopped by one of the biggest thrift shops I’ve ever seen, and of all things got recognized due to my band Sheeep. It was so ridiculously amazing and I still cant believe people really love the music we play,, blowin my mind and shittt.

ANYWAY

I took some really cool photos with this little Nikon L35 AF i picked up at Goodwill a few days before i left, its the first point and shoot Nikon ever made and it to is blowin my mind, by far my fave little camera and I have a pretty good collection.

I djed a private school formal. It was amazing. It made me realize all the reasons I hated high school and all the reasons kids are awesome.

I DJed and The Pack (got my vans on but they look like sneakerzzz) performed (private schools got budgetssss yo). Kids love hyphy and electro. The kids they’re alright. I played some fun tunes and a bunch of lady gaga but nothing brought the house down like “Single Ladies” god i love that dance.

Afterwards we went to Temp Spaces and got down for Dave’s bday which is 9weeks long apparently.

I used to do a lot of stuff for Buzznet. It was really funny, but this contest was amazing. The contest was a flight to LA to spend the day with Jeffree Star and have a photoshoot with him shot by me. To win the contest you had to download the polaroids of Jeffree that I shot and photoshop yourself into the picture. The pictures these kids came up with were amazing. Here’s a few of my favs.

This is so funny to me. Like this is at a club, and I just can’t imagine. I suppose it only makes sense if you’re familiar with the original tune. The original or the one playing in the background is “RUSKO – Cockney Thug” it’s such a brilliant song. Actually i’m gonna post it below for reference but look out for SKREAMO in 09′ that’s emo meets dubstep. I’m taking it leaps and bounds forward. Also credit for the name goes to Alex Johnny Love’s gf. So ya when it’s as big as blog house you can all cite her as the source.
