The Virgins debut album comes out on June 3rd. If you’re not familiar he guys in the band are some of the most talented guys in rock and roll, and some of the nicest as well.
Yesterday the Virgins were on the front page of myspace so I went and checked out their page for a bit. Their single “Rich Girls” has kind of been a staple in my warm up set for a while now. I can play it at Hyde and I can play it at super hipster hoe downs. I generally get at least 1 person asking me what song it is, and more importantly the whole EP was played on Gossip Girl haha.
Anyways to get to the point I went on The Virgins myspace and they have the LP version of Rich Girls up and it just sounds really overproduced to my ears. Maybe it’s cuz i’ve already fallen in love with the EP version, maybe it’s a great call and people who hear it for the first time will lose their shit and they will blow the fuck up like they should.
I can’t decide so i’ve made a poll.

ah, Rich Girls the EP version is the best. Fell in love with this band when I heard it on GG. Looking forward to your mix.

i’m all about the EP version. so much so that i wish i hadn’t heard this rerecording. ruins everything for me.

I have been playing the ep version out here in Milwaukee and people go crazy for it. The LP version has a little bit of DFA sound in it. But the EP has a little more ‘funk’.

i like the EP version more definitely. i mean, sure.. this LP version isn’t all that bad, but i really digged the ‘underproduced’ (to the new versions standards) quality of pretty much all the songs on the EP… it’s was a little Strokes-y and dance-y at the same time… now it just seems like they’re trying too hard.
Don’t really like what they’ve done with Fernando Pando and I kinda think Private Affair sounds like Panic(!…?) at the Disco, but maybe that’s just me.
I’ll still buy the album and see them when they come to town though, love the Virgins

Couldn’t agree more, the new version sounds way overproduced and that new album track is awful.
