Delilah DiCrescenzo
From Plain White T’s’ ‘Hey There Delilah’ (2006)
Plain White T’s frontman Tom Higginson wrote this ode to Columbia University steeplechase runner Delilah DiCrescenzo. He fell for Delilah and told her he’d written a tune about her, then quickly backed off when she asked to hear the song, which didn’t exist yet. By the time he got around to penning the ditty, Delilah was long gone. She has since weighed in, saying, “Part of me wants to scream at the top of my lungs that it’s about me. Another part of me wants to cower and say it’s not.”
I secretly, wait openly love this song.

Tom used to date my 15 year old friend.
Sick..
SHE’S SOOOO UGLYYYYYYYYYYYY
this is like, not the story.
it was his friends girlfriend, and hes like, oh one day ill write a song about you. ok so like a year later she sees him again and asks for her song, which prompts him to write it, but like, its not actually about her and him, its like about his imagination of if he dated her, or like really a story in the point of view of if he were a guy who dated her (get the distinction? like my first phrase had a connotation of him wanting to date her but thats not how he felt.) and like he just wrote it in like a general term of like long distance relationship and what not.
i feel like will ferrell in old school where he says all that stuff in the debate but he like blacked out because i dont know how i remember that. it was in people magazine circa july.
ps she for sure looks like america ferrera’s sister on ugly betty…
I went to school with her, we lived on the same floor our freshman year. She was a bitch.
