This is a testament to the power of internet fame, that shit is stronger than crack for underage hipster kids. I know and like BJ. I think he’s a nice enough kid, would never hurt a fly. Expresses himself through fashion, likes good music. But what other purpose does getting naked for a popular nightlife photographer have?
The only goal of wrapping your supple asian flesh in tape and lying naked in the captains quarters while someone films you biting a bowie knife (that was probably used to gut many a fish). Is internet fame. The goal is blog posts just like these.
Maybe in my kids sociology course in college they’ll study this, and it’ll be some warhol factory 2.0 shit. Cuz that’s probably the dream the rest of these kids have. That at their Thanksgiving dinner 30 years from now they can show their kids the LNP, and Cobrasnake coffee table book, and be like… “Ya I used to hang out there, it was so wild.” and watch as their nieces and nephews grin at “the cool uncle.”

Yaaa i’m all about the getting us talking thing. Bronques is great at just that.

And I don’t wanna be mean, I just really want to start a conversation about this whole deal.
I guess it weirds me out to have stuff like this happen. Pre meditated hipster arty videos and similar things of this nature are what will make our “social scene” novelty.
It makes our group of friends (our mini culture i guess) a joke. (A bigger joke than we already are haha)
I think it’s really cool when this stuff happens organically. But from the get go it wasn’t about being photographed or videotaped. It was about a group of friends who had a different idea of a good time.
A lot of my “older” friends who have been a part of this world since the get go seem to hate on the new parties going on and I really really try to discourage that.
There are a lot of shitty knockoff parties but there are a few that are really cool. I think the whole Harold/Lauren Cary fucksgiving party scene is awesome.
They aren’t trying to knockoff another party, they’re not trying to get famous, they’re just trying to hang out with their friends and have a good time.
That’s whats up. That’s what will keep these parties fun.
At a certain level of notoriety go for the gold, exploit the party when their is no other option. I mean cinespace tuesdays is at a point now where the best years are probably behind it. But that’s the cycle of things, they’re underground they blow up, they get commercialized, and they go away.
I guess it’s a short sighted idea but i’d like to keep these parties fun, i’d like to keep things fresh and cool. But if we make this shit a joke, a commercial, a corporate ad, then it all goes away.
So if I come off mean, I suppose it’s because I’ve met some of my favorite people in the world because of these parties. I’d like to see that other generations of kids who don’t wanna go to area and hear the same shitty songs banged into their heads every day of the week have somewhere to go.
But fuck it. I don’t know how to articulate how I feel really. There’s a reason I basically just post videos haha. Maybe when I learn how to use punctuation and grammar i’ll be able to contribute more to this little conversation but for now

And I dont think any of us have to worry about the underground, there will ALWAYS be an alternative to area or shelter, or Hyde…we are all SO anxious to make things happen the second we all ACTUALLY turn 21…new places will become fire and we will all have a stake in the new underground.
