I know the project about Jada. My boyfriend told me about it, because he is working on that project with Jada. And he is a straight edge from courage crew. They are friends from couple years now. He is from Ohio, and he doesn’t beat up people for no reason. I know a lot of straigt edge guy, and they are all nice guy. They don’t mind people who drink or take drug, its a personal view, they are not there no convince you to make you straight edge also. They won’t mind that you drink as long as you don’t invade or disturd them. You know like those drunk people who are a pain in the ass. My boyfriend is straight edge since 20 years old or more. And I drink, get drunk sometimes….and he doesn’t mind, but as long as I don’t lost control.

If Jada is doing a tv show its not for showing people beat up others, but to show that society is wrong about what does courage crew. Show all the positive things about it. Their brotherhood and how they party and involves to help others. Maybe its good doing this show, or maybe not. But we have to try at least.

Whether your straight edge, or not your beliefs are yours so you can achieve to be the best person you can possibly be, and when i see senseless violence in our scene it disgusts me. This is not what hardcore is about, you don’t beat someone down because you don’t like the fact that that person is smoking a ciggarete, that is pu**y a** fa*ot Sh**, sense when does it take 4 grown men to fight one dude, cowards. I’m going to start off by saying I respect straight edge, it’s core values are something i can respect but cannot say i live by. I’ve been going to hardcore shows since around 2001 and i’ve seen the scene around michigan grow and change.

when I was about 16 i started hearing about straight edge and what its values were. i was already living by those values but i thought the thought of claiming to something like that was something i couldn’t commit to. i didn’t understand the point of claiming to straight edge before the age of 21 any way, besides the sex part isn’t living by the values of straight edge just obeying the law? i played in a few bands around the lansing,MI area with straight edge members and knew a few guys from out of town in crews, CxC being one of them. When i played in bands with straight edge kids, they would tell me about it, and lead by example which in my opinion is the best way to spread straight edge. i personally am not straight edge, i do inhale (lol) i drink on weekends and i still go to the occasional show. but i also have a nice house, pay all my bills on time attend MSU and have a high GPA.

what the main stream media needs to realize is theres a alot of different kinds of straight edge, the militant crews of straight edge are bringing it a bad name. there is no reason to out number someone and jump them. if you have a problem with someone, deal with it yourself. its one thing to back up a friend if some dudes giving a hard time, its another to start a fight with someone then have 10 of your friends beat his ass when he swings back.

if straight edge kids just lived to the values of straight edge, and didn’t bring attention upon themselves by starting big fights, usually out numbering who they are beating up. then there wouldn’t be a tv show about to be put about about their crews. plain and simple.

in michigan the scene was doing pretty well in 2004-06. now the scene is dead and i personally blame the crews that show up to shows who feel the need to tear up a venue and beat up girls.

i’ve seen too many xtyrantx shows to count. and every single time they play i see someone get hurt. its unneeded. you guys are ruining yourselves. get more face tats please so i never have to work with you people at a job

the nazi regime was one of the worst stints of history ever recorded, yet there have been over 7 films about it released in the past year alone. not comparing courage crew to the nazi’s…completely but if something fascinates someone with will smith status they can and most likely will make a movie about it no matter how taboo it is or how much or little they know about it. honestly, i would like to see this film because it sounds interesting.

secondly, the “media” isnt going to give courage crew a bad name, courage crew gave itself a bad name by allowing themselves to be grouped with such people that use violence and ignorance as their moral codes. not to say that all of the cc members are like these people, but there is a large number that is. the movie is about courage crew…the gang…not straight edge. the courage crew is a straight edge gang but straight edge is not a courage crew life style. to argue that your straight edge image will be tainted by this film is the same as arguing that one’s harley riding image will be tainted by the films and tv shows about the various biker gangs that have come and gone over the years.

third, brittany is very correct. its a personal choice to be straight edge just like being vegan or any other personal choice. straight edge is about being clean and living your life above the influence of drugs and alcohol and like any other groups of people who share strong common ground there is a sense of brother/sisterhood. when you bicker about the “image” your helping straight edge become a mainstream trend, which if you ask me its already there, and thus making yourself look bad.
