I constantly discuss the fact that everyone in LA and their Ipod is a DJ these days. While I am known for my impeccable music taste, I have held strong. I am the only person I know in LA, who is not a DJ.

I am in Portland Oregon for the week. I know a bunch of people up here from my formative days, being growing up in Boston. None of these people have even sort of good music taste.

My friend Brooke has a Barbeque Sunday. We get beer and make food. We are good to go until I realize there is no music. So I decide to DJ. Not just DJ, I decide to DJ entirely off of Myspace. It worked for the first hour or so. As more and more people showed up that I had not seen since the 1990s, it got a little more difficult. Conversations about the past decade of our lives outlasted L’Trimm. I eventually had to bail on the whole endeavor and use a playlist. Plus the 20 Windows open on my laptop sort of started to freeze. I gave the whole thing a really good try.

So you want to be a Myspace DJ?

Here is my mixtape (aka the windows I had open.)

1.Spankrock “Bump”
2.Salt n Pepa “None of your Business”
3.Outhere Brothers “Boom Boom Boom”
4. Lil Mama “Whatever that Avril Remix is called”
5.Plastic Little “Drizhollering”
6.Sweatheart “Fingerbanging”
7.Ghost town DJs “My Boo
8. Lil Mama “Whatever that Umberella Remix is called”
9.Sweatheart “Dream Beaver”
10. Diplo “So so Krispy”
11. Justice “DANCE remix
12. Plastic Little “Get Close”
13. Salt N Pepa “Push It”
14. Justice “We are your friends”
15. Lil Bow Wow “Basketball”
16.L’Trimm “Cars that go Boom”
(That’s all I can remember. My computer froze at some point.)

Some girl asked if I could play the “regular song about the umbrellas.”

When Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. remix came on, one Barbeque attendee did impressively ask, “Whose Justice remix is this?”

I shrugged, “Um, Justices.”
